The automotive aftermarket in Saudi Arabia is the largest and fastest growing industry in the wider Middle East. This is primarily thanks to the full-fledged vehicle assembly and manufacturing plants scheduled to commence production in 2017. With an overall of 7.7 million passenger vehicles sold in 2013 alone, Saudi Arabia is the largest importer of auto parts valued at approximately USD 1.9 billion (2013).
“With 7.1 million passenger vehicles on its roads, Saudi is poised to become the manufacturing hub of the Middle East’s automotive industry,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East. “Demand for spare parts is also on the rise, valued at $3.8 billion in 2013 and growing at 7.7 per cent annually over the next five years to reach $5.5 billion by 2020.
